How I Spent My 2005-2006 Winter Break…

I had give a ten minute talk on neural networks simulating Short Term Memory; my fall rotation project. I decided that the best way for the audience to get the slightest inkling of what I wanted to convey was to incorporate an animation of how a neural network model of STM functions to store information over time. After devoting a mere 50 or so lonely man hours to its generation, time from my life that I shall never regain, I display below the fruit of my labors:

…pretty anti-climactic huh. I have no life. 🙁

Boring stuff really. Not much to tell. One time a tree was struck by lightning not ten feet from me. It like, exploded, and the blast knocked me over! I was okay though. Another time I got my pinky caught in a pipe vice on a drilling rig. The vice nearly severed it--that was kind of exciting I guess. Oh yes, and one time I was sued for 3 million dollars. Top that..!

I played the music and the video at the same time, and I think I understood the whole thing a lot better (though, honestly, I’m pretty lost). It does look neato though. I think your time was likely well spent, considering it looks really cool (key to keep the audience with you), and I’m sure you learned a hella lot in the process. Last thing: what’s a life again?
