If Only I Could Tell Good Poetry From Bad…

…then I would at least have a chance at songwriting. Alas, my brain is just not wired to comprehend the aesthetics of word placement, usage, rhythm and everything else poetic that my rationally oriented nature prevents me from appreciating. 🙁

Boring stuff really. Not much to tell. One time a tree was struck by lightning not ten feet from me. It like, exploded, and the blast knocked me over! I was okay though. Another time I got my pinky caught in a pipe vice on a drilling rig. The vice nearly severed it--that was kind of exciting I guess. Oh yes, and one time I was sued for 3 million dollars. Top that..!

I dare you to share your lack of poetitude with us! :o) I bet you’ve got the words and that you just need to find your personal rhythm.

as if anyone can tell good from bad.

You guys are all SO supportive. I think I’d also have a better chance at songwriting if I could actually think of something to write a song about. All feeling and nowhere to direct it I suppose. Ha, Duran Duran wrote a theme song to James Bond (…and you say they couldn’t write, what better measure is there than that, I mean they’re in the same club as Paul McCartney and A-ha.)

My attempts to write song lyrics are almost comical they are so bad. Think about how a scientific journal article would sound if you tried to put it to music… that about captures character of my efforts.

j preciado:::: I’m thrilled that you found my blog. I’ve missed you and you’ve come up several times in conversation recently. Each time I kick myself for letting so much time go by with no word. I’ll be emailing you. By the way, that limmerick is BETTER than the songs that I’ve attempted to write.
